ESAKE to decide on Stoiximan GBL broadcasting rights on October 7
The Greek Basketball Clubs Association (ESAKE) is set to make a final decision on October 7 regarding the television broadcasting rights for the Stoiximan Greek Basketball League (GBL). The decision follows an extraordinary board meeting where various proposals were discussed.
SKAI TV is seeking to secure long-term rights by extending its current three-year agreement. While the existing deal is valued at approximately 21 to 26.7 million euros, SKAI has proposed a five-year extension worth approximately 49 to 50 million euros. Under this proposal, the fourth and fifth years would involve specific annual payments, with ESAKE maintaining the right to a 20 percent increase in the fourth year.
The competition for broadcasting rights highlights the increasing commercial value and competitiveness of Greek basketball, driven by significant investments in clubs such as Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, PAOK, and Aris.
