Esan West Chairman faces backlash over political threats

Blessing Albert Ebhodaghe, the Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area in Edo State, has faced backlash following threats directed at commercial drivers and residents. In a video circulating on social media, Ebhodaghe warned drivers at motor parks in Ekpoma that they could be denied access or evicted if they wear caps or display materials belonging to political parties other than the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ebhodaghe linked this directive to the political mobilization efforts of Governor Monday Okpebholo ahead of the 2027 general elections. During his visit to the parks, the chairman personally distributed APC-branded caps to drivers, urging them to support the administration and President Bola Tinubu.

Additionally, an alleged audio recording has surfaced in which Ebhodaghe reportedly threatens to demolish the homes or businesses of individuals who host meetings for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the local government area. The authenticity of the audio clip has not been independently verified.
