Esapekka Lappi announces pause to professional rally career

Professional rally driver Esapekka Lappi has announced he is pausing his career. The 35-year-old Finn revealed the decision during a press conference ahead of the Porvoon Autopalvelu Ralli, which will serve as his final competition for the time being.

Lappi, a two-time WRC winner and 15-time podium finisher, has competed for major teams including Toyota, Citroën, M-Sport Ford, and Hyundai. His career highlights include winning the 2016 WRC2 title, a victory at the 2017 Rally Finland, and a 2024 win at Rally Sweden. While he is stepping away from professional series and the Finnish Rally Championship, he noted that he does not rule out participating in individual events in the future.
