Esapekka Lappi eyes advantage at Jyväskylä WRC rally

Finnish driver Esapekka Lappi, who competes for Hyundai in the World Rally Championship, is targeting his favourable starting position for the upcoming Jyväskylä rally in Finland.

Lappi has already collected manufacturer points with a fourth‑place finish in Sweden and a solid result in the Safari rally, but his Hyundai has trailed Toyota in aerodynamics. Team manager Andrew Wheatley said Lappi can challenge the Toyotas if the car feels competitive, and Lappi added, “We must be able to exploit” the start‑position advantage.

At the previous Estonian round he started eighth and finished eighth after being unable to optimise the car, highlighting the need for a more competitive Hyundai. He will again start eighth for Friday’s special stage.
