Esapekka Lappi wins Porvoo Rally to conclude active career

Esapekka Lappi concluded his active rally career with a victory at the Porvoo SM Rally. Having already secured the SM1 class championship earlier in the season, Lappi won the event by 25.9 seconds, marking his fifth win of the season.

The race was marked by significant drama among the leaders. Patrick Enok, who had been leading the rally, drove off the track during the penultimate special stage, dropping from a potential victory to third place. Lauri Joona also faced setbacks after a tire failure during the Rahikon special stage, ultimately finishing second to secure the SM silver medal.

Niclas Grönholm finished in second place, marking his first podium of the season. In the SM2 class, Rio Ogata secured the championship by defeating Kanta Yanagui by over five seconds. The event served as the final round of the 2026 Finnish Rally Championship season.
