Escape Truck campaign targets human trafficking awareness in Poland
An educational and prevention project titled ‘Escape Truck’ is currently operating in the Opole Voivodeship to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking. The initiative utilizes a modified truck containing an escape room designed around the authentic experiences of trafficking victims. Participants solve puzzles to experience the manipulation mechanisms used by criminals, helping them recognize potential traps in real-life scenarios.
The campaign specifically targets youth, including students and individuals entering the labor market or planning to travel abroad for work, education, or leisure. Authorities warn that traffickers often exploit economic vulnerability or the desire for a better life through social media messages or attractive job offers. The crime includes not only sexual exploitation but also forced labor, economic exploitation, and forced begging.
Organizers include the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Polish Police, the Border Guard, and the Embassy and Police of the Netherlands, alongside the Reshape Foundation and the University of Opole. Information stands featuring officers from the Police, Border Guard, National Labour Inspectorate, and Prison Service are available at the truck's locations to provide practical safety advice.
