Escazú drug raid dismantles synthetic pill laboratory

Authorities in Guachipelín de Escazú dismantled a suspected synthetic drug laboratory during a raid conducted by the OIJ Specialized Anti-Drug Section. A 53-year-old man known as ‘Billete’ and his 30-year-old partner were detained in connection with the operation.

Investigators identified the site as a ‘mixer’ facility, used to blend various substances to manufacture drugs for human consumption, including ‘Tuzi’. A notable detail of the operation was the production of pills featuring the Superman logo.

During the raid, police seized high-end vehicles, motorcycles, and a significant amount of jewelry. Officials noted that ‘mixer’ structures and synthetic drugs have seen increased prevalence in the country in recent months.
