Fabian murder trial: Witnesses testify on timeline of death

The murder trial of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow continues at the Rostock District Court. A central focus of the proceedings is determining the exact timeline of the boy's disappearance and death on October 10, 2025.

During the 29th day of the trial, childcare workers testified regarding their last sightings of the boy. One educator reported seeing Fabian on a bicycle, describing him as “joyful” and “cheerful,” but noted this encounter occurred on the Thursday prior to his death, rather than on the Friday when he was reported missing. This testimony aligns with the prosecution's timeline, which suggests Fabian died between 10:50 AM and 1:00 PM on Friday. This contradicts previous statements from two classmates who claimed to have seen him on Friday afternoon.

The defendant, 30-year-old Gina H., is accused of killing the boy with a knife approximately 15 kilometers from Güstrow. The prosecution alleges the motive is linked to the defendant's relationship with Fabian's father. Gina H. denies the allegations. The defense has also raised concerns regarding the handling of mobile phone data, which they have characterized as a “scandal.” The trial may face further delays as the court considers various motions from the defense.
