Escobar and Vigo implement new digital and urban housing initiatives

The Municipality of Escobar in Argentina has launched GIOP (Gestión Integral de Obras y Proyectos), a digital platform designed to unify and streamline construction, renovation, and demolition permits. The system integrates with Escobar 360, allowing residents and professionals to manage processes online without visiting municipal offices. For single-family homes and commercial premises, initial work permits are expected to be granted within 72 business hours, while final plan approvals are estimated to take between 60 and 90 days.

In Spain, urban development projects of regional interest (PIA) are moving forward in Galicia to address housing shortages. In Vigo, three specific projects—including the Navia expansion—aim to develop over 5,000 apartments, most of which will be public housing. These projects are part of the General Plan and are considered the fastest route to providing viable housing, addressing a significant demand in the region where thousands are registered as housing seekers.
