Escobar Mayor blames Trenes Argentinos for level crossing issues

Escobar Mayor Ariel Sujarchuk has held Trenes Argentinos responsible for ongoing issues regarding level crossings in the district. Sujarchuk supported local residents' complaints, specifically addressing the closure of the Zabala street crossing, which has remained shut for months. He stated that rather than fixing operational failures, shortages of gatekeepers, or vandalism, Trenes Argentinos chose to close the crossing entirely.

The mayor highlighted other safety concerns, including the lack of automatic barriers on Colón street in Matheu, where a motorist died recently, and sporadic gatekeeper strikes affecting Belén de Escobar.

While noting previous successful collaborations—such as the construction of the district's first underpass on Pablo Podestá street and the installation of eight automatic barriers—Sujarchuk emphasized that political differences with the national government should not hinder improvements to local quality of life.
