Argentina municipalities launch free dengue vaccination campaigns

Municipalities in Argentina, including Escobar and Chivilcoy, are intensifying dengue prevention measures due to the anticipated El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to increase rainfall and create more breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

In Escobar, the dengue vaccine is being provided free of charge at all Primary Health Care Centers (CAPS) without the need for prior appointments. The vaccination campaign targets residents aged 15 to 59, regardless of whether they have previously contracted the disease. The vaccination schedule requires two doses with a three-month interval. Exceptions include pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals.

Similarly, in Chivilcoy, health authorities are offering free vaccinations at the San José CAPS for the same age group. Officials emphasize the importance of personal and household prevention, such as eliminating standing water in containers, tires, and bottles to reduce mosquito proliferation.
