Escola Municipal Osvaldo Cruz integrates anti-violence curriculum

Escola Municipal Osvaldo Cruz has integrated the fight against violence against women into its curriculum for Youth and Adult Education (EJA) students. Organized by the Municipal Education Secretariat (Semed), the project, titled ‘EJA na Prevenção da Violência Contra a Mulher: Currículo, Escuta e Conscientização’, aims to promote reflection on structural machismo, affective relationships, and femicide.

Moving beyond traditional lectures, the initiative incorporates statistical analysis into the classroom, using graphs and tables regarding aggression victims and perpetrators to teach subjects like Mathematics. The program involves educators, Semed technicians, and psychology academics to facilitate discussions and the deconstruction of culturally inherited behaviors. The awareness activities are scheduled to continue at the school through October.
