Escuela Municipal de Circo Larissa faces displacement in Paraná
The Escuela Municipal de Circo Larissa in Paraná, Argentina, is facing an uncertain future following the municipality's decision to grant a concession for the Centro Cultural Gloria Montoya to private companies. The new project aims to repurpose the facility into a cultural and gastronomic space, including a food court and entertainment areas.
Staff and educators at the circus school have expressed alarm over the move, stating the bidding process was conducted without notifying the school's coordination, teaching staff, or the educational community. The institution has been operating at the center since 2003.
In addition to the loss of their physical space, the school's workers are currently on strike due to unpaid wages and contractual irregularities. While the municipality has offered a temporary relocation to a private space to finish the school year, staff members fear the loss of their historic venue will be permanent.
