Escuela Normal de Monclova to expand capacity to 500 students
The Escuela Normal de Monclova will undergo an infrastructure expansion involving the construction of a second and third floor. This project aims to consolidate the entire student body within a single building, increasing the institution's capacity to accommodate up to 500 students in the Coahuila central region.
Currently, the school serves 462 students, but due to space constraints, five groups are forced to attend classes at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN). The expansion is intended to resolve this issue, providing dedicated classrooms and administrative areas. The project is expected to be completed within approximately one year following its commencement.
Funding for the expansion will be managed through the Fondo de Aportaciones Múltiples (FAM) and the Programa de Apoyo a Escuelas Normales (PAEN). The initiative has the support of Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and Secretary of Education Manuel José de Jesús Garza. By providing local facilities, the expansion is expected to reduce the need for students to travel to Saltillo, thereby lowering transportation and housing costs for families.
