Lugo and Roales del Pan launch new municipal programs for children

Municipalities in Spain are launching new educational and civic initiatives for children. In Lugo, the local government has inaugurated the ‘Coñece o teu Concello’ program. This initiative brings primary school students to the City Hall every Wednesday to learn about municipal decision-making and the roles of local councilors.

During the inaugural session with students from CEIP As Mercedes, Mayor Elena Candia addressed topics such as playgrounds, sustainability, and local environmental improvements. The program aims to foster civic engagement by allowing children to present questions and proposals directly to the administration.

In Roales del Pan, the City Council has introduced ‘Roales Educa,’ a school support program designed for children aged 6 to 12. Responding to requests from local families, the initiative provides weekly sessions to reinforce subjects including English, mathematics, and language arts.
