Escuinapa traffic official Miguel Antonio Zazueta Páez assassinated

Miguel Antonio Zazueta Páez, the municipal traffic subdirector of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, was found dead with gunshot wounds in the Infonavit Las Fuentes neighborhood. Authorities discovered his body alongside a sign containing a message, the content of which has not been released.

The assassination follows the disappearance of Misael Aguilar Espiricueta, the municipal syndic of Palmillas, who was reportedly abducted by armed individuals from a public transport vehicle six days prior.

In response to the killing of the official, the Sinaloa State Public Security Secretariat has increased surveillance in Escuinapa through coordinated inter-institutional operations. The State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation to determine the motives and identify those responsible for the attack.
