Esdras Medina appointed as advisor to Sineace

Esdras Medina Minaya, a former congressman from the Renovación Popular party, has been appointed as an advisor to the Presidency of the Superior Council of the National System of Evaluation, Accreditation, and Certification of Educational Quality (Sineace). The appointment was formalized via a resolution by Sineace president Ángel Velázquez Fernández and was published in the official gazette, El Peruano.

Medina previously served as the president of the Congressional Education Commission. During his tenure, he was involved in legislative efforts regarding the reform of the educational system, including the modification of the composition of Sunedu’s Board of Directors and the introduction of a bill to allow the reelection of public university authorities. His legislative history also includes the approval of Law No. 31498, which allowed for the removal of gender perspectives from school curricula.

Medina’s appointment follows a period of controversy in which he was reportedly captured in a suspected exchange of favors with Richard Acuña.
