ESET and Apple Offer Smartphone Security Guidance

ESET, a leading cybersecurity firm, published a ten‑minute checklist for securing mobile devices. The guide, presented by security researcher Mario Micucci, advises users to update the operating system and apps, enable PIN or biometric locks, remove unused applications, restrict app permissions, and disable unnecessary services such as Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi to reduce the attack surface.

Apple’s iOS provides a built‑in Hidden Album feature that lets iPhone users conceal photos and videos behind Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode. The album can be hidden from the main library, and users can further obscure its existence via Settings. Alternative methods include storing images in a password‑protected note or using Screen Time restrictions to lock specific apps.

Both sets of recommendations aim to protect personal data, banking information, and private communications stored on smartphones.
