ESET warns of spyware risks to mobile phone cameras
Cybersecurity firm ESET has issued warnings regarding the potential for spyware and remote access tools to compromise mobile phone cameras. Such malware can allow unauthorized individuals to spy on users, view their screens, or capture images and videos without consent.
Key indicators of a compromised device include unexpected camera activation, the presence of unknown photos or videos in the device gallery, and unusual battery consumption or overheating. Users should also monitor for excessive mobile data usage, as captured media may be transmitted to external servers. Other symptoms include sudden performance issues, such as device slowness, unexpected reboots, or the appearance of unknown applications.
