ESG adoption becomes critical for business competitiveness in UAE and Malaysia

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) adoption is increasingly viewed as a business necessity rather than a mere regulatory burden. In the United Arab Emirates, the shift toward ESG transparency is becoming a fundamental requirement for business continuity and compliance. Authorities such as the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) are introducing stricter disclosure guidelines, prompting a rise in demand for specialized sustainability reporting consultancy to align with national priorities and global standards.

In Malaysia, Penang’s state Trade and National Unity Committee chairman, Goh Choon Aik, emphasized that ESG readiness is critical for maintaining global competitiveness. As a major manufacturing and electronics hub, Penang’s local companies and SMEs must meet the sustainability expectations of the approximately 350 multinational corporations operating in the region. Investors and global supply chains are increasingly assessing energy consumption, carbon footprints, and governance practices when making procurement and financing decisions.
