ESHOT implements AI to improve driver safety and efficiency
The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality ESHOT General Directorate has implemented a technological infrastructure using artificial intelligence to enhance safety, passenger comfort, and energy efficiency in public transportation.
The system utilizes CAN bus (Controller Area Network) infrastructure to collect real-time data from buses, including engine performance, braking, location, and telemetry. AI-powered algorithms developed by ESHOT personnel analyze this data to identify risky driving behaviors such as improper acceleration, speeding, harsh starts, risky cornering, and excessive idling.
This data-driven approach supports a continuous management model where driver performance is measured and analyzed to plan targeted training. Over the past seven months, 1,055 drivers have participated in economic and safe driving training programs. The process involves observing driving behavior without intervention, providing theoretical and practical training based on identified needs, and monitoring post-training performance to ensure improvement.
