ESIC mandates Aadhaar linking for beneficiary access

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has made it mandatory for beneficiaries to link their Aadhaar with their ESIC Pehchan Card to maintain uninterrupted access to social security and healthcare benefits. This requirement is implemented under Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020.

Beneficiaries can complete the seeding process through the official ESIC website by logging into the “Insured Persons and Beneficiaries” section and selecting the “Aadhaar Seeding for IP” option. The process requires Aadhaar-based authentication via a one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Once submitted, a reference number is generated, and the link is finalized following departmental verification.

The scheme generally covers employees earning up to Rs 21,000 per month, with a wage ceiling of Rs 25,000 for persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Labour and Employment stated that Aadhaar-based authentication aims to verify genuine beneficiaries and streamline the delivery of services.
