České Budějovice secures long-term squatting site

Authorities in České Budějovice have successfully secured a long-term squatting site on Oskara Nedbala street to prevent further unauthorized access by homeless individuals and drug users.

The abandoned building had been a recurring issue for municipal and state police, who noted that previous interventions and evictions were insufficient to stop people from returning. The site had become a collection point for waste, posing fire risks and creating public disturbances near a local elementary school.

Following an initiative by the Director of the Municipal Police, Martin Hrink, the city reached an agreement with the property owner. The city obtained written consent to perform security upgrades, which included the installation of protective bars to block entry. Additionally, the owner's extended family has agreed to complete the cleanup of the accumulated refuse.
