České dráhy extends direct Opava-Prague train services

České dráhy has decided to extend the trial period of its direct SC Opavan train connections between Opava and Prague beyond the summer season. Originally intended as seasonal services, two additional trains added in June will continue to operate to allow the carrier to analyze passenger demand during the regular school year.

Following the conclusion of the summer holidays, passengers will have access to four direct connections per week. This includes the Thursday service (SC 513) departing Prague at 16:30 and the Friday morning service (SC 518) departing Opava at 10:53. These additions complement the existing direct services that run on Fridays and Sundays.

Jiří Ješeta, Deputy General Manager for Passenger Transport at České dráhy, stated that the company aims to monitor occupancy and demand trends, specifically focusing on business travelers and students, to determine the long-term viability of these routes. The carrier operates these commercial trains at its own business risk.
