Česká Lípa train struck by stones placed on tracks

A Die Länderbahn passenger train traveling from Nový Bor to Česká Lípa was forced to perform an emergency brake on Wednesday afternoon after the driver spotted stones placed on the tracks. The incident occurred near the Sever housing estate in Česká Lípa.

Although the driver managed to slow the train significantly, the vehicle still struck some of the stones, which were reported to be between 10 and 20 centimeters in size. Preliminary estimates place the damage to the control car's wheels at least 100,000 CZK. There were 23 passengers and two railway employees on board at the time; no injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the incident as a crime of public endangerment. Authorities noted that this is not the first occurrence at this specific location, as similar incidents involving stones on the tracks were reported twice last year, both of which remain unsolved. Police are currently seeking witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity near the tracks between 16:00 and 17:30.
