Česká televize introduces new Sunday Debate format

Česká televize is launching a new television program titled ‘Nedělní debata’ (Sunday Debate), set to premiere on August 30, 2026. The program replaces the former ‘Otázky Václava Moravce’ and features a dual-studio format designed to combine political discussion with real-time expert analysis.

The main political debate will air on ČT1 from 12:00 to 13:00. Simultaneously, an analytical studio on the ČT24 news channel will begin at 11:30, providing experts, data, and context to the discussions. Following the main debate, the ČT24 studio will analyze key statements and arguments made by the participants.

The program's structure and guest list will remain flexible to adapt to current political events. While the standard model involves four political guests, the format allows for duels, thematic blocks, and various numbers of participants depending on the topic. The broadcaster aims to ensure a diversity of opinions and high-quality expertise by selecting analysts and journalists based on their relevance and ability to explain complex issues clearly.
