Turkey electricity grid maintenance causes widespread planned outages
Multiple regions across Turkey are scheduled for widespread planned electricity outages between October 5 and October 7, 2026, due to grid maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and capacity improvements.
In the eastern and central regions, Van, Konya, and Mardin (Artuklu) are undergoing significant works. Dicle Elektrik has completed a 1.5 billion lira investment in Artuklu to modernize the distribution network. In Van, several districts including Muradiye, Gürpınar, and Erciş face scheduled cuts for technical interventions. Konya is also seeing a three-day phased maintenance program to strengthen lines before winter.
In western and southern Turkey, extensive maintenance is planned for Gaziantep, Balıkesir, Denizli, Muğla, Aydın, Manisa, İzmir, and Trabzon. Companies such as ADM Elektrik, Gediz Elektrik, and GDZ Elektrik have announced works involving transformer maintenance, line renewals, and tree trimming. In İzmir, 19 districts are affected, while Balıkesir and Denizli face outages spanning multiple days in various neighborhoods. These operations aim to increase load capacity and prevent unplanned failures, though some outages may last up to eight hours.
