Eskişehir business leaders call for urgent financial aid

Oğuz Sinlenmez, Chairman of the Eskişehir Entrepreneurial Businessmen Association (ESMİAD), has called for urgent financial support for the business community in Eskişehir to combat worsening economic conditions.

Sinlenmez highlighted a significant surge in financial instability, noting that the value of bad checks in the first half of 2026 reached 1.266 billion TL, representing a 152% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the amount of protested promissory notes rose by 58% to 406 million TL.

To alleviate the pressure, Sinlenmez proposed several measures, including providing flexibility in bank loan restructuring, implementing amnesties or long-term restructuring for tax and social security premium debts, and expanding access to financing. He warned that the gap between rising costs and income-generating capacity is widening, affecting all sectors and leading to increased bankruptcy filings and concordat applications.
