Eskişehir City Hospital Cancer Screening Praised by US Expatriate

Burcu Güleryüz, a 45‑year‑old Turkish expatriate working in the United States, said that despite having a corporate health insurance plan, she faced long waits, high costs and referral hurdles for early‑diagnosis tests in the U.S. While on holiday she visited Eskişehir Şehir Hastanesi, where she received comprehensive cancer‑screening examinations without waiting and described the care as comparable to a private‑hospital service.

Eskişehir Provincial Health Director Doç. Dr. Yaşar Bildirici explained that the hospital’s Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Center (KETEM) conducts door‑to‑door outreach, setting up free screening stations in markets, shopping centres and other public places. He emphasized that early detection can avoid costly advanced treatments and improve survival, and noted that the screenings are provided at no charge to citizens.
