Eskişehir City Hospital faces shortage of 202 nursing staff

A report by the Eskişehir branch of Sağlık-Sen reveals a significant staffing shortage at the Eskişehir City Hospital. The facility, which operates 950 clinics and 217 intensive care beds, requires 1,435 nurses and midwives to function effectively. However, the current number of active staff is only 1,233, leaving a deficit of 202 personnel.

The report highlights that while there is a total cadre of 1,276 nurses and midwives, only 1,005 are available for shift duties. This discrepancy is attributed to legal rights and various leaves, including disability reports, maternity/breastfeeding leaves, part-time work, and temporary assignments. Hasan Hüseyin Köksal, President of the Eskişehir Sağlık-Sen branch, noted that relying on increased workloads and extra shifts to solve these issues is unsustainable for healthcare workers.
