Eskişehir fire department obstructed by illegal parking
In the Odunpazarı district of Eskişehir, an emergency response by the fire department was significantly delayed due to illegal parking in narrow streets. The incident began when a call was placed to the 112 Emergency Call Center reporting a cat trapped in an apartment on Ertuğrulbey Street in the İstiklal neighborhood.
Upon arrival, the fire engine was unable to proceed through both Ertuğrulbey and Yeşiltepe streets because vehicles were parked in prohibited areas. Despite the sirens, drivers did not notice the emergency vehicle for several minutes. The fire crew was only able to maneuver into a position to deploy equipment after local shopkeepers assisted in having a commercial vehicle moved to clear a path.
When the firefighters entered the building to rescue the animal, they discovered the cat had already managed to exit on its own, rendering the intervention unnecessary. Local residents and shopkeepers expressed frustration regarding the ongoing issue of unconscious parking and traffic congestion, noting that such obstructions hinder emergency services and impact the quality of life in the neighborhood.
