Eskişehir holds Car-Free Sunday event on Atatürk Boulevard
As part of the 2026 Eskişehir Year celebrations, the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality organized a Car-Free Sunday event on Atatürk Boulevard. The boulevard was closed to motorized vehicle traffic between 12:00 and 18:00, allowing residents to use the space for cycling, scootering, and skating.
The program included various activities such as ESMEK workshops focused on environmental and water awareness, as well as demonstrations from search and rescue and fire departments. Dedicated play areas were also provided for children.
In collaboration with the Municipal Veterinary Affairs Department and the Eskişehir City Council Animal Rights Working Group, the event featured a “Don’t Buy, Adopt” campaign to promote animal welfare. During the initiative, a local resident adopted a kitten, highlighting the importance of pet adoption.
