Eskişehir honey producer discovers rare green emerald honey
In the Alpu district of Eskişehir, honey producer Hakkı İşçi has discovered rare green-colored honey in his beehives. Referred to as ‘emerald honey,’ this phenomenon is reportedly quite rare, occurring globally only once every 10 to 15 years.
İşçi, who has been producing honey for 11 years in the Ağaçhisar neighborhood, attributed the unusual color to the high concentration of chlorophyll collected from specific plants and nectar. He described the honey as having a sharp, woody, and delicious taste, noting that while previous harvests were yellow or amber, this year's yield is distinctly green.
Due to the rarity and perceived value of the product, İşçi intends to send samples for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause, quality, and potential health benefits of the honey.
