Eskişehir hosts International Yunus Emre Literature Festival
The International Eskişehir Yunus Emre Literature Festival has commenced in Eskişehir as part of the 2026 Eskişehir Year celebrations. The four-day event brings together poets, writers, and artists to explore themes of literature, poetry, and music.
During the opening ceremony, Festival Manager and poet Haydar Ergülen emphasized the universal values of Yunus Emre, focusing on human love, unity, and tolerance. Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce noted the intention to use art as a means of healing during difficult times.
The festival's second day featured various programs under the theme of “joy,” including discussions on youth and literature with participants such as Devrim Horlu, Vuslat Çamkerten, and Özgür Çırak. Additionally, a program titled “Republic Joy” integrated literature with performing arts.
A notable highlight is Nihat Özdal’s olfactory exhibition, “The Scent of Joy in the Odysseia,” which explores the connection between scent and memory, inspired by the verses of Yunus Emre. The exhibition is scheduled to remain open at the Sanat Sokağı Exhibition Hall until October 12.
