Eskişehir nears completion of collective Atatürk and children monument

The production of a unique collective monument titled ‘Atatürk and Children’ is nearing completion in Eskişehir, Turkey. Created as part of the 18th International Eskişehir Terracotta Symposium, the work is described as a first for the country due to its collaborative production model involving artists from Turkey, Japan, and China.

The monument depicts Mustafa Kemal Atatürk alongside children and flowers. Notably, children participated in the creative process by producing the floral elements that will form integral parts of the sculpture. Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç stated that the work serves as a symbol of the Republic’s trust in children and the unifying power of art.

To ensure the monument reflects the community, Tepebaşı Municipality plans to let the residents of Eskişehir decide on its final name. Proposed titles include ‘Atatürk’s Children’s Garden’, ‘Atatürk Garden’, and ‘Atatürk’s Flowers’.
