Eskişehir Osmangazi University hosts Romanian doctors for ablation training

Seven doctors from Romania traveled to Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Faculty of Medicine Hospital in Turkey to receive specialized training in interventional radiology and ablation therapy. During the training session, the Romanian medical team observed Prof. Dr. Berat Acu and his team performing ablation procedures on eight live patients in a single day.

Prof. Dr. Berat Acu, Head of the Interventional Radiology Department, explained that ablation is a method used to destroy diseased tissue, such as tumors, using controlled techniques like cold or laser applications. This discipline utilizes radiological imaging to treat diseases through body cavities or blood vessels, minimizing disruption to the patient's physical integrity.

According to Prof. Dr. Acu, these non-surgical methods offer significant advantages, including faster recovery times and lower economic costs for the healthcare system, as patients often require little to no hospital stays. He noted that since 2022, ESOGÜ has provided similar medical training to physicians from various countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and several Balkan and Turkic nations.
