Eskişehir Osmangazi University opens specialized contact lens clinic
Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Medical Faculty Hospital has opened a renovated Contact Lens Clinic within its Department of Ophthalmology. The facility aims to provide vision rehabilitation for patients with irregular corneal structures without the need for surgical intervention.
The clinic specializes in treating conditions such as keratoconus, corneal ectasia, corneal scars following trauma, and complications arising from corneal transplants or previous eye surgeries. By utilizing personalized contact lens designs, including rigid gas permeable (RGP), mini-scleral, full scleral, hybrid, and multifocal lenses, the center seeks to significantly improve visual quality for patients with complex optical issues.
A key technological feature of the clinic is the anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) system, which is available in only a limited number of centers in Turkey. This equipment allows specialists to analyze the relationship between the lens and the cornea with millimeter precision. The medical team consists of two faculty members, a contact lens technician, and a research assistant.
