Eskişehir Osmangazi University plans new research hospital

Prof. Dr. Emine Gümüşsoy, the Rector of Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ), has announced the intention to establish a new Health Application and Research Hospital for the city. Addressing the press shortly after assuming her role, Gümüşsoy emphasized that the primary goal is to provide a modern facility, noting that reinforcing the existing building while medical services are ongoing poses significant risks regarding infection and operational stability.

University officials clarified that there is currently no decision to demolish the existing Faculty of Medicine Hospital. Instead, the push for a new building stems from the current facility's physical and technological inadequacies. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Özcan Özdemir and Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Haluk Hüseyin Gürsoy noted that the existing infrastructure struggles to meet modern healthcare needs, specifically citing issues with ventilation, water, and electrical systems.

The university aims to align itself with other institutions that have recently received approval for campus hospital projects to ensure students and the local community have access to advanced medical services.
