Eskişehir truck drivers threaten sugar beet transport strike
Truck drivers in Eskişehir are threatening to stop transporting sugar beets due to a dispute over transport fees. Drivers argue that current rates fail to cover rising costs for diesel, vehicle maintenance, and labor.
Ali Burçin Baykara, representing the drivers, stated that while they expected a 40% to 50% increase in rates to match inflation, the current adjustment is only between 10% and 20%. Drivers are seeking a minimum rate of 200 TL to remain viable, noting that current figures do not compensate for the surge in industrial and fuel expenses.
