Eskişehir unveils 2036 Sustainable Development Plan
The ‘Vision Eskişehir 2036 Sustainable Development Plan’ has been officially introduced to outline the city’s strategic roadmap for the next decade. The plan was presented during a high-level meeting at the Eskişehir Governor's Office, attended by deputy mayors, district governors, industry leaders, and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
Governor Dr. Erdinç Yılmaz emphasized the city’s existing strengths, including its historical heritage, industrial capacity, agricultural lands, and three universities. A primary objective of the plan is to address demographic imbalances, as currently 90 percent of the city's population resides in the center. To counter this, the strategy aims to revitalize districts such as Odunpazarı, Tepebaşı, Alpu, and Sivrihisar by prioritizing sector-specific development in agriculture, tourism, and industry.
The Governor stressed that the plan must move beyond theoretical frameworks to produce tangible value. He noted that projects must be built on solid foundations before being submitted to institutions such as the European Union, BEBKA, and the Presidency of Strategy and Budget to ensure effective implementation.
