ESO announces compensation for storm-related power outages

ESO has announced compensation measures for customers affected by recent storm-related power outages. For both private and business clients, statutory compensation is automatically applicable if electricity supply is not restored within 72 hours of the outage caused by storm damage. No separate application is required for this specific statutory compensation.

Private customers can apply for a simplified direct loss compensation mechanism starting September 1. This mechanism covers specific costs such as spoiled food (up to 60 EUR), temporary accommodation (up to 60 EUR per day), generator rental or purchase, and generator fuel. The total maximum amount for direct losses is capped at 220 EUR per customer. Applications must be submitted by the property owner and must include supporting documentation, such as receipts or photos.

Additionally, the National Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) will calculate individual statutory compensation for exceeding electricity restoration deadlines. These amounts will be determined based on the client's energy consumption and the duration of the outage once VERT makes a formal decision regarding the accident and the affected territory.
