ESO increases storm damage compensation for Lithuanian residents
ESO (Energijos skirstymo operatorius) is increasing compensation limits for residents who suffered direct losses following the major storm that hit Lithuania on August 22. The maximum compensation amount will now be determined by the duration of the electricity supply outage.
Under the updated rules, residents whose power was restored within 3 to 6 days can receive up to 220 EUR. For outages lasting 7 to 13 days, compensation can reach 440 EUR, while those lasting 14 days or more are eligible for up to 660 EUR.
ESO has already received more than 2,800 claims, totaling approximately 664,000 EUR in requested damages. The company announced that the first payments will begin this Monday. Customers who have already submitted claims do not need to reapply, as the new, higher limits will be applied automatically to existing requests. Those who have discovered additional losses may submit separate claims through the ESO self-service portal.
