RCD Espanyol defeats Levante 3-0 in LaLiga season opener

RCD Espanyol opened their LaLiga campaign with a 3-0 victory against Levante UD at the RCDE Stadium. The match featured a brace from striker Roberto Fernández and a goal from Tyrhys Dolan. This win provides momentum for Espanyol ahead of their upcoming fixture against Real Madrid.

Despite the victory, Espanyol played without defender Leandro Cabrera, who was sidelined due to a disciplinary sanction carried over from the previous season.

On the Levante side, the match marked a historic milestone for 15-year-old Marc Santos. Santos debuted as a substitute, becoming the youngest player to appear for Levante in the Primera División and the fourth youngest in LaLiga history, surpassing the record held by Lamine Yamal.

Due to scheduling agreements between LaLiga and the players' union (AFE) to accommodate stars returning from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, major clubs including Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will not begin their league matches until the following week.
