Espanyol defeats Villarreal 1-0 in LaLiga match

Espanyol secured a 1-0 victory against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica during the 11th round of LaLiga. Leandro Cabrera scored the decisive goal in the 60th minute following a cross from Bryan Zaragoza.

The win marks a significant turnaround for Espanyol, who had been struggling in the relegation zone and recently suffered a Copa del Rey elimination. The team was led by interim coach Sergio García, who opted to field several youth players in a successful tactical shift.

Villarreal, managed by Iñigo Pérez, faced additional challenges when captain Gerard Moreno had to leave the pitch in the 17th minute due to a muscular injury. Despite controlling much of the play and recording more shots, Villarreal was unable to find an equalizer. The defeat leaves Villarreal in 10th place with 12 points.
