ESPN names top 30 WNBA players of all time
ESPN has released its ranking of the 30 greatest WNBA players in history to coincide with the league’s 30th anniversary. The list was determined by a panel of 23 ESPN reporters and staff members, aiming to balance historical achievements with current performances.
A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces secured the number one spot. Other top-tier legends included in the rankings are Tamika Catchings, Diana Taurasi, and Cynthia Cooper. The list also features several prominent figures from the Los Angeles Sparks franchise, including Lisa Leslie at number five and Candace Parker at number nine.
Notable omissions from the list include recent high-profile stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. While both players received votes, ESPN noted that Clark, who entered the league in 2024, has yet to achieve the necessary longevity and milestones to secure a spot. The report also identified Paige Bueckers and Olivia Miles as players with the potential to become future greats.
