ESPN revamps college football broadcast team for 2026 season

ESPN announced changes to its college football studio lineup for the 2026 season. Alyssa Lang will take over the Friday night and Saturday studio wrap‑around shows, replacing Matt Barrie, who is moving to host SEC Nation. Lang, previously a host of SEC Now and sideline reporter, confirmed the shift on social media.

In addition, former SEC referee and NCAA rules official Steve Shaw has been hired as the network’s rules analyst for marquee games on ESPN and ABC. Shaw, a Tuscaloosa native and Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inductee, will join the lead broadcast crew that includes Kirk Herbstreit. The network also added former athlete Katie George to its on‑air talent roster.
