Pinheiros takes youth football bronze, wins South-Central American handball title
Esporte Clube Pinheiros' youth football teams performed strongly at the Footmania tournament in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, from 24‑28 June. The Sub‑12 Blue squad earned a bronze medal after beating CD Cova Piedade 5‑1, with striker Pietro Cardoso scoring ten goals. The Sub‑12 White side finished fifth, while the Sub‑13 team placed 15th out of 24 clubs. The club will next compete in the Iber Cup in Estoril.
In handball, Pinheiros' senior men’s squad (Azul e Preto) captured the South‑Central American Club Championship on 27 June, defeating Nacional‑SC of Santa Catarina 29‑27. It was the team’s fourth continental title (previous wins in 2011, 2017 and 2021). Goalkeeper Gonzalo Guerra starred, and Philipp Seifert led scoring with eight goals. Emerson Santos and Gabriel Reis were named to the tournament’s all‑star team. The club now looks ahead to the Club World Cup in Egypt scheduled for late September.
