Esports World Cup in Paris enters major stages for chess and gaming

The Esports World Cup in Paris is progressing through several major tournament stages across various disciplines.

In the chess tournament, which features a $1.5 million prize pool, the Play-in phase has concluded. This leaves 16 players for the Group Stage, including Wei Yi and Andrey Esipenko. The Group Stage features prominent players such as Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and Nodirbek Abdusattorov, competing in a double-elimination format to determine the final eight players for the playoffs.

Other major competitions are also underway. The Counter-Strike 2 tournament has entered its main Group Stage with 32 teams competing from August 12 to 15. In Rainbow Six: Siege, the group phase has ended, setting the stage for an eight-team single-elimination playoff bracket running through August 15.

Additionally, the PUBG Mobile World Cup is entering its final week. Following the conclusion of the Group Stage, six teams have been eliminated, leaving 26 teams to compete in the Survival Stage and Grand Finals for a $3 million prize pool.
