Espressif Systems releases Linux developer preview for ESP32-S31

Espressif Systems has released a developer preview of the Linux Board Support Package (BSP) for the ESP32-S31 dual-core RISC-V microprocessor. The chip includes a Memory Management Unit (MMU) and supports development boards equipped with 16MB PSRAM, enabling the use of minimal Linux images. The official BSP utilizes Buildroot 2025.02 and includes a fork of the Linux 6.18 kernel.

In a separate development, the ESP32-DIV has emerged as an open-source hardware platform designed for wireless experimentation and signal analysis. Built on ESP32 and ESP32-S3 microcontrollers, the modular platform supports various communication protocols, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, NFC, sub-GHz, and IR. The project offers multiple versions, such as the CYD board, and provides tools for tasks like network scanning, RFID cloning, and GPS-based diagnostics.
