Espírito Santo legislators allocate R$ 1.3 million to Santa Rita Hospital

State deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo (Ales) have announced the first allocations under a new mandatory budgetary model, designating at least R$ 1.3 million to the Santa Rita Hospital in Vitória. The philanthropic institution is a regional reference for cancer treatment.

During an extraordinary session, several lawmakers announced specific contributions: Allan Ferreira (Podemos) and Delegado Danilo Bahiense (PL) each pledged R$ 500,000, while Marcos Madureira (Podemos) allocated R$ 200,000. Deputy Xambinho (Podemos) proposed a collective initiative where each of the 30 deputies would reserve R$ 100,000 for the hospital, potentially totaling R$ 3 million.

The shift to mandatory individual amendments stems from Constitutional Amendment 120. This change ensures that parliamentary amendments must be executed provided they meet technical and legal criteria, whereas previously, funding was subject to negotiations between the state government and the Assembly without guaranteed delivery. The new system emphasizes transparency and traceability, though funds remain subject to administrative controls and the regulatory standing of the recipient institutions.
